Zen Work Days

In the Zen tradition there's a story in which the esteemed older abbot refused to stop working in the fields so the students hid his tools away. He famously said, "A day of no working is a day of no eating," and refused to eat until they let him continue this work.
Daily life tasks, our work in this world, are seen as a deep expression of meditation and practice. Working together is also a powerful community builder. And, of course, there are tasks we need to do to take care of and improve our beautiful place of practice: Red Cedar Dharma Hall.
Please consider joining the sangha in a day of work this year. And note especially our new Work Weekend which includes a Sangha potluck dinner and celebration on Saturday evening.
