SET-UP OF PRACTICE DISCUSSION ROOM

The jisha will set up the practice discussion room.

TEMPORARY PRACTICE COMMITTEE SECRETARY

Hannah will be secretary while Chris is at Tassajara (January through March 2019).

RETREAT MANAGER

Tuli Candela will become retreat manager beginning with the rohatsu retreat.

FEES FOR SPECIAL EVENTS AND 1/2-DAY RETREATS

  • New Year Eve events and Jizo ceremonies ware free of charge.
  • The fee for 1/2-day retreats (no meals) should be set to $10. Past events have been charged $20.

2019 RETREATS / TEACHING

Samish sesshin: Laura Fish has agreed to cook oryoki style meals for us with Bob Rose's support. Chris will make up some oryoki sets for registrants who forgot theirs. Hannah has requested that the meal cards be printed on half sheet 4 1/4 x 11" and laminated for easier clean-up.

Work sesshin: So far we don't have been offered dates for a work sesshin. Doubling up with another group may still be possible, but it would be on short-term notice.

Pilgrimage: We discussed possible destinations for a "pilgrimage" visiting other Zen centers or monasteries. Possible destinations were Tassajara in September or April, Oregon (Dharma Rain, Great Vow). A brief poll resulted in one annual trip, possibly starting with Pregon as the destination.

PP closing sesshin: Tim proposed that the practice period closing sesshin (early March) begins Wednesday evening and end Saturday noon.

It was clarified that leading "Zazenkai" and "Simple Sit" is a possibility for Senior Students.

Dharma course: Tim will teach an 8-week dharma course with potential on-line participation.

Visiting teachers: We discussed the possibility of visiting teachers. We are looking into improved networking with other local sanghas for that.

NEW CHANT BOOKS

New chant books with a clear layout of Saturday morning service are in the works. Tim proposed printing 20 for a trial run.
