The RCZC Treasurer Job Description includes oversight of RCZC’s financial operations and coordinating the Bookkeeper, Clerk and Bursar roles. 

Financial Management duties 

Coordinates the work of the paid Bookkeeper, RCZC Clerk and Bursar. (The Clerk on a weekly basis collects and records incoming money from the Post Office and front lobby of Red Cedar. The Bursar pays bills, sets up automatic bill payments for recurring bills and keeps track of bank account activity)

The Treasurer convenes the finance committee (typically treasurer, clerk and burser) as needed to discuss and give input to the board on financial matters such as 501(c)(3) status, and provides annual and quarterly financial reports to board and consults with the board on any organizational decisions having financial impact. 

Regulatory Requirement duties

The Treasurer assures RCZC is compliant with record keeping and tax obligations as registered non-profit corporation with Washington State and as a registered 501(c)(3) organization with IRS. 

Annual Budget duties 

With the help of the Finance Committee, the Treasurer revises/updates the new annual budget for the Board and finalizes it for presentation to the sangha by March 1. 


Helpful to have Accounting, knowledge of Non-Profit Organization/Financial management and team experience. Attention to detail and skill at accounting & record keeping also helpful.
